July Construction Update

The intersection at Kalum Street and Lakelse Avenue will be closed as of 7:00 am on Saturday, July 11, until the end of day Tuesday, July 14, to install traffic loops, finish base gravels, and then pave the intersection. The rest of 4600 Lakelse Avenue as well as the Emerson intersection will be paved later in the project schedule.

Last year, we received feedback that there were delays with the signalization timing, which was occurring because the loops embedded in the road surface that control the timing were damaged. All the loops will be replaced as part of this project, so you can expect better intersection functionality next week when the intersection reopens.

Pedestrian access to Lakelse Avenue sidewalks will remain available. For everyone’s safety, please follow signage and drive cautiously when taking detours while the paving is underway.
