October Construction Update

A complete road reconstruction takes a lot of steps to complete—and many of these steps aren’t exactly visible or glamorous, so it can definitely feel like a long time coming before we get to the fun stuff. Well, the time has almost come and we’re in the home stretch before paving begins!

Some of the amazingly unglamorous steps done to date include deep utilities, structural soil, and a whole lot of concrete curbs, gutters, and planters. We anticipate paving will begin the week of October 12, and that will be followed by additional steps like accent and street lighting, tree planting, a mural wall, and an amazing, stamped crosswalk that we can’t wait to see come together. To keep most of these steps moving quickly, the road will remain closed even after paving is done and you’re champing at the bit to drive on that nice, smooth surface. You’ll have to wait juuust a little bit longer while we do the rest of the finishing touches to make this a main street we’ll all be proud of.

We anticipate opening the road again by the end of October. In the meantime, please remember that 4600 block businesses remain open! We thank you and appreciate your patience while this complex reconstruction nears its final steps.
