BCLC Community Celebration and Movie in the Park
This year's Movie in the Park night is more than just a movie—it's a community celebration! Sponsored by BCLC and Chances Casino Terrace, this year's event includes a FREE community BBQ, kids and family zone, and of course, the movie at the end of the night!

BCLC Community Celebration Schedule
Our schedule is below. The show will go on, rain or shine!
Thursday, August 6
6-11 pm
George Little Park
6–9 PM | Community Celebration
6-7:30 pm: Free Community BBQ
6-9 pm: Kids and Family Zone, including
Giant obstacle course with prizes and age categories
Bouncy castles
Lawn games
Face painting and craft stations
6-9 pm: Booths including:
City of Terrace: The City of Terrace booth has information about a survey underway about parks use that will help our Parks, Recreation & Culture department understand what’s needed and valued in our parks and update our Master Plan. Also, enter your name into a draw for walking, biking, or using any mode of active transportation to get to tonight's event!

How to Get There:
- Walking, biking, or using any active transportation: We encourage everyone who can to bike or walk! Come by the City of Terrace booth to enter your name into a draw for walking, biking, or using any mode of active transportation!
- By car: There is limited parking available on all sides of the park. Overflow parking is available at the Sportsplex overflow and Hidber parking lots to the east of the park.

Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of BC and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of BC's Community Gaming Grants program. In Terrace, Chances Casino Terrace contributes to the Terrace community and economy through numerous infrastructure projects like sidewalk repairs and improvements, road resurfacing, and more.

The City of Terrace is immensely grateful for the funding it receives each year from BCLC and Chances Casino Terrace. You may not realize it, but gambling revenue is reinvested back to communities like ours to support infrastructure projects that would be challenging or even impossible to fund without their help. And this funding does not just go to the City of Terrace; it also goes to a variety of local organizations through community grants, so there are lots of ways that this revenue supports Terrace overall.
The City of Terrace has used our share of funding for a variety of projects—many of which we may not think of as particularly glamorous or flashy—but they are projects that have a significant impact on our day-to-day lives. In the past several years, we have completed sidewalk resurfacing to make your travels a little easier, added radar speed signs at schools for improved safety for students, provided enhanced equipment for our Fire Department to improve emergency response, and much more. We have also partially funded larger projects like road reconstructions around the community to help update our aging infrastructure with better drainage, bike lanes, sidewalks, and other features that help improve travel for all road users.
Some examples of projects and the funding allocated from the gaming reserve to complete them:
- 2023: Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus - $204,915
- 2023: Fire Department Overhead Door Replacement - $14,237
- 2023 and beyond: Pavement Overlays - $200,000
- 2024-2026: Eby Storm Drain Repairs - $100,000
- 2024-2027: Sidewalk Resurfacing - $880,000 over 4 years
- 2025: Sportsplex Lighting and Other Updates - $17,067
- 2025: Radar Speed Sign Replacements at Skeena Middle School - $15,718
- 2026: 100th Anniversary Celebrations - $150,000
This all amounts to a significant impact on our city, and we truly appreciate the opportunity that BCLC provides to make good use of this revenue stream.

Wow—what a turnout at last night’s BCLC Community Celebration and Movie in the Park!

We love seeing the community get together, so a big round of applause goes to all of you for making it so much fun to host events like this.
