Draft OCP is ready for viewing

A draft Official Community Plan was presented to Council on Monday, August 24, 2026, for first reading (view the council report and bylaw here). This was council’s first opportunity to review the plan and take the first formal step to repeal the existing Official Community Plan Bylaw and replace it with the new updated Official Community Plan.

What’s next?

Staff will be sending out copies of the draft OCP for review to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, local First Nations, the School District, the Agricultural Land Commission, and provincial and federal government agencies. We’ll be holding a public open house on October 15 to present the key policy changes and gather comments. We’ll follow that with a public hearing anticipated to be held on October 26. This will be your opportunity to formally provide your feedback to council and staff. Comments are also welcome in advance of the open house and public hearing. Comments can be submitted to developmentservices@terrace.ca.

In preparation for the fall open house and public hearing, you can review the draft OCP right here—we’ve included the full list of sections below, and you can also find it in the right-hand sidebar of this page. We’ve noted which sections are new and which are not to help you review the new parts more easily.

Thanks for all who have participated so far! We look forward to hearing from you in October.
