Summer 2026 - What have we been up to?
Updating our Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan requires a lot of different types of engagement to ensure we can capture the viewpoints of a wide range of people who all may participate in parks in different ways. Here are some of the ways we reached out over the summer of 2026!
Over the summer of 2026, staff hosted several types of engagements, such as
- First Nations Outreach: Invitations were sent to Kitsumkalum and Kitselas First Nations to explore their participation in developing the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Update.
- Event Pop-Ups: Booths were set up at several events already scheduled with engagement materials that catered to the audience.
- Focus Groups: Qualitative research method with targeted individuals to discuss a specific topic to understand certain demographic needs better.
- Public Survey: Quantitative and qualitative research method to understand outdoor parks and recreation need, satisfaction and priorities.
- Passive Feedback Boards: Unmonitored boards where participants can physically write and vote on their preferences, located in highly visible and high traffic spaces.
