Plans are underway to make Tetrault Park, in the Southside of Terrace, a more welcoming and functional space.

The current uses within Tetrault Park are a bike skills area, frisbee golf course, outdoor fitness area, and walking trails. Instead of changing these uses, the City will be reorganizing and refreshing the park to improve the overall experience, meet the needs of different user groups, and reduce potential conflicts.

The park is parallel to the Cassie Hall Elementary School and Ecole Jack Cook properties, and the ball fields in between them. Together, these land parcels are a central and popular recreation area for Terrace - and especially Southside! - residents.

The City hired consultant McElhanney in 2024 to come up with a draft concept plan for revitalization.

With detailed graphic images, the draft concept proposes some minor and major improvements to various areas and features in the park, that would benefit all users.

The current uses within Tetrault Park are a bike skills area, frisbee golf course, outdoor fitness area, and walking trails. Instead of changing these uses, the goal is to reorganize and refresh the park to improve the overall experience, meet the needs of different user groups, enhance safety, and reduce potential conflicts.

    Consultation with user groups

Input was gathered from the main user groups and caretakers of the park, including

    • City of Terrace Staff
    • Terrace Off Road Cycling Association
    • Terrace Disc Golf Club (Mountain Meadows Disc Golf Course)
    • Cassie Hall Elementary School
    • École Jack-Cook

    Vision Statement

Based on input, research and planning, McElhanney created the following vision statement for the park:

"To revitalize Tetrault Park to be a vibrant and inclusive, community park that inspires adventure, connection, and well-being for all. Featuring a dynamic bike skills park (designed for progression), a portion for frisbee golf, and a natural multi-use area, this park will serve as a hub for recreation, outdoor exploration, and shared experiences. With convenient parking and thoughtful amenities, the park will aim to provide a welcoming and accessible space where individuals and families of all ages and abilities can play, gather, and enjoy the beauty of our small-city environment."

Tell us what you want to see!

While the concept plan outlines the general changes we will be making to the park, the plan is not yet finalized. We'd love to hear from local residents about what improvements they would want to see in the park - whether it's to the walking trails, the bike area, or the frisbee golf course.

We can't promise we can do everything suggested, but we will definitely consider input and ideas that are feasible and we have the budget for. We can also put them in our 'future ideas' banks.
